Lesly has more recently started connecting with her creativity, and I met her at Moxie in Murfreesboro, TN. Her work is full of colour, meaning, and mixed medias. I’m excited to see where she takes her art - or, better - where it takes her!
What does Creativity mean to you?
It's everything when I'm down. I work through my problems with it. I talk through it and tell the world what I think and how I feel.
How do you expand yourself creatively?
With music, through books, relationships with friends, family, comedy, ect.
Were you creative as a child? If so, how have you evolved through the years? Did anyone encourage you, especially?
Yes, I've found new muses, No, I was not especially encouraged.
What inspires you most?
Comedy. Music.

Yes, absolutely .

I love change. It gives me variety.
Do you have any other mediums you use to express yourself creatively?
Anything I can get my hands on.
Do you enjoy collaborating, or prefer to work alone?
I would love to work with other artists but I haven't had the opportunity.
Do you work in a studio/space designed specifically for your creativity, or on the spur of the moment/anywhere inspiration strikes?
I work mostly at home but if something inspires me I try to put down right then.
Is it important for you to have a creative, inspiring environment?
No, it happens when it happens.
Do you have a preferred way of cataloguing ideas?
No, if something that I'm working on starts moving in a direction I don't like, I put it aside and start up again later.
Does spirituality and/or culture play a role in your creativity?
Yes, I love other cultures, and their views on spirituality. A lot of times I find wisdom and inspiration from their point of view.
Do you believe art can change the world? If so, how?
No, only people can do that, and they have to want to change it. But art can help them understand themselves better and see the world in a different way.
Do you believe that connecting with your creativity, or helping others to do so, can positively affect the world? If so, how?
Yes, when you help others you learn from it and grow and become more complete.

No, but I want to be. Sometimes life gets in the way.

I want the world to have fun with it.
What music, if any, plays while you work? What are you listening to at this very moment?
All kinds of music - whatever I'm in the mood for. Right now I'm into alternative music like Daft Punk, Broken Bells, or the Arctic Monkeys.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
If a person isn't a friend or family, and they don't sign your paycheck or pay your bills; don't worry about what they think or say. Just do what is best for you.
Do you have any advice for aspiring creatives?
The same advice as above.
Where can we find your art?
