Kurdish Long Table with Chimen Mayi - Meal

I am excited to announce a multicultural Food Workshop & Long Table I am co-hosting with Kurdish-American ethnobotanist, Chimen Mayi (information about Chimen is included at the end of this post)! This is going to be one enriching evening.

The food workshops are not only a great way to learn how to cook food from other cultures, but also a way to connect with women from other countries/cultures; learning more about them and their day to day lives and issues…over delicious nourishing food. We would love to have you.

Virtual Coffee/Deep Listening Sessions

Virtual Coffee/Deep Listening Sessions

Virtual Coffee/Deep Listening Sessions

Connected to too many reasons to list, I have finally decided to offer Virtual Coffee/Deep Listening sessions (along with food still!) on my website. I have been doing these sessions for years now, and have seen the value and difference they bring to people’s lives. Enough value, that people are excited to see me offering them publicly!

Before I actually offer them on the site, I’ve decided to gift (well, in exchange for feedback) three sessions - one on Instagram, one on Facebook, and another has already been reserved.

My forte tends to be in questions...and in the space between the questions. I’ve helped many women, especially, dealing with:
Past religious/sexual/emotional abuse
Relationship/communication issues
Simply gathering thoughts/making plans
...and, sometimes Reiki is involved if it helps.

I want to be sure to make the point that I am not a therapist, which can be good, since not everyone needs to hire a therapist and deal with insurance. And. I am quick to tell people when I see the need for a therapist, since I want people to have the support they need (and I clearly have my limits). I’ve also found that sometimes people just need someone to talk to who is not a close friend, either, depending on their comfort level/delicacy of the conversation. For the record, I’m happy to talk with you if you are a close friend as well...and...you already know that.

If this offer appeals to you, please PM me, and let me know why/what you would look to gain from a session, and we can see if we are a great fit. Or, please pass the info on to someone who could benefit.

If you are someone who has benefited from this in the past, please PM me as well, and let me know how. I may include your words on my site - with your permission, of course.

I am so excited to finally do this work with more people in the world. Thank you.

I am so excited to be hosting our first multicultural cooking workshop with Veronica Zavaleta (information about Veronica is included at the end of this post)! She will be teaching how to make both savory (meat-based, vegetarian, and vegan) and sweet (vegan) tamales; along with Jamaica, a hibiscus-based tea. You will also take home six tamales!

These workshops are not only about learning how to cook. They are also about connecting with women from other countries/cultures, and learning more about them and their day to day lives and issues...over delicious, nourishing food. We would love to have you.

Creative Spotlight: Sue Ann Gleason

Embody Your Muse Creative Interview:  Sue Ann Gleason

I believe I met Sue Ann Gleason through Jen Lee's Indie Kindred Creative Community some time ago...no matter the when or the where, Sue Ann is just an amazing human being, and I am grateful to know her.  Someday I will actually create and enjoy a meal with her!  I have already, though, taken part in her "Food for the Soul Collage" call/workshop in the past, and absolutely love making collages inspired by chocolate.  What an experience.

Sue Ann has An Introduction to SoulCollage® as a Nourishment Practice coming up this Sunday, November 6, and I hope you'll join me in her call/workshop!  I have found SoulCollage a very intuitive way of answering my own question: "If I am the answer to my questions, what do I want/who am I at my core?"  Her process is a powerful way of connecting with those things.  Give it a try, for sure!

I connected with Melanie Oliva both through the Nashville Creative Group started by Beth Inglish, and Melanie's page, Inspiration Pollination (an environmental activism project) on Facebook. Melanie grew up in Nashville, has lived in Chicago and Amsterdam, and is currently living in Miami, where she works as a fine artist.

Melanie's newest project is The Artful Activist (there is a Facebook page as well), a " blog where artists, activists and gallerists can express their views on social and environmental issues."  I hope you will check it out. We need these spaces now, more than ever (if that's possible). I can definitely say that I am grateful for such spaces.
